Burning Truck 2010

Art Installations do not generally occur outside of the event boundaries, nor are they usually as unplanned as this one was. But on the afternoon of the Exodus, while driving contentedly along the south side of Pyramid Lake enroute to Reno, my friend Terry looked in his rear view mirror to see flames shooting out of his camper. After pulling quickly to the side, he had barely time to grab a few items from his front passenger seat before the fire had moved from the camper into the truck cab. Luckily his camera was among the items he had been able to rescue so he was able to document this climax to Burning Man 2010.

I was the unwitting assistant on this art project as I discovered when I arrived home at 4 am to find his incinerated trailer parked next to my driveway and the artist himself asleep on my couch. Terry is the stuff of legends.

The cause, now that no repercussions can come from this, was loose fireworks left carelessly in the camper. Well, that was Terry.
